Bridges Blog Archive for Resource

New Links to Additional Resources

A variety of wonderful resources complement Bridges, including many that have been highlighted in this blog; some contributed by readers. Recently we decided it might be helpful to make resource collections available, organized by grade level and tied directly to Bridges Units and Number Corner months. This work is well underway and we will continue to build and refine the collections over time.

Illuminations Game: Flip-n-Slide

During the month of November, fourth graders observe a "Tumbling Triangle." This Calendar Grid activity depicts a single triangle in a different location on a quadrant grid each day as it moves through a series of transformations: slides, turns, and flips. Through the pattern, students develop language and concepts of motion geometry.

Mathwire's Measurement Man

In Grade 4 Number Corner, October's Calendar Collector titled "A Cup a Day," provides opportunities for students to measure capacity as they explore equivalent fractions and carry out simple unit conversions within the U.S. customary system.

Bridges Smart Board Files

A special thanks goes out to Connie Tibbetts and Dina Dobler from Jessup Elementary in Cheyenne, WY. They were kind enough to create and share the K-2 Bridges displays for their SMART Boards. These displays will also work if you have a Promethean Board.
